The Establishment of the Scientific Library of the Lyceum
From the day of the establishment of Shirakatsy Lyceum, the library is an inseparable part of the educational process. The rich heritage, succeeded by the Yerevan No 54 MTH, has been uploaded with a new series of class books, classical literature, thematic school books, educational glossaries comprising morethan 20.000 volumes. There are more than 30.000 thematic electronic resources in the library, available via the intranet. The main sources of obtaining the series of the glossaries and books are the direct purchase of the books, donations, and subscriptions. For the detailed information on the library follow the link.
Despite its crucially significant role and its activities, the library is not accommodated with adequate facilities. There is one medium-size room both for the librarians and the main
displayed books on the shelves. The book stack does not have elementary facilities. It contains books which are supposed to be displayed and recruited in the active collection of the books in use, but because of a small space they are kept in the stack. Due to the support and commitment, the library may become a two-stored scientific center: to have a separate service center, sufficient space for displaying the books, large reading hall, books stack and other functional rooms. Due to the support of all of us, it may become the most favorite place for the students of the Lyceum. And the space considered for the study rooms and discussion may foster the group work and peer-to-peer education. For the implementation of the project, the following phases of the creation of the library are considered:
- Building the library
- Reload of the materials
- Accommodation of the library with the IT devices and software programmes.
